Polls

My foul mood of yesterday has improved markedly with this new Gallup poll showing Bush's approval rating down 3 points from last month:

The poll, conducted Sept. 7-10, finds that 39% of Americans approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president, while 56% disapprove. Bush's approval ratings have averaged 39% over the last six Gallup polls conducted since early July, fluctuating between 37% and 42%. From a longer term perspective, Bush's ratings averaged 43% in January of this year but dropped to 31% in an early May poll, which is a low point for the Bush administration.
And,while that didn't pick up the effect of "The Path to 9/11" or Bush's speech last night, it does include all the other claptrap that Bush was putting out earlier.

On the other hand, this poll proves that the plurality of Americans are utterly clueless:

A plurality of Americans, 43%, continue to believe that there were links between
Saddam Hussein's government and Al Qaeda prior to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Thirty-two percent (32%) disagree while 25% are not sure.
