Idiocracy's Daily News coverage

We saw the movie "Idiocracy" over the weekend, about the world 500 years in the future, where human intelligence has declined precipitously (although Fox News has survived!). See the Slate review for more. It's not as ideological as say Michael Moore's movies, I don't think. Probably not a great movie-- how could it be?--but it at least has a point.

For some reason, I was made to think of what Idiocracy's news coverage would be like, when reading this off-hand comment from Glenn Greenwald in a piece on Foleygate:
It is hard to avoid dreaming about what our country would be like today if the media had devoted even a small fraction of the diligence, scrutiny and adversarial passion to the events of the past five years as they are devoting to this story.
Underage sex?
In-depth coverage!
We ask the hard questions and make no deals!
Electoral manipulation? Manipulation of scientific and economic reports? Trumped up wars? Secret prisons and torture? Abuse of Constitutional powers by the executive?
Just write down what the Press Secretary says.
There's two sides to every story.
