It's okay if the good guys do it
Glenn Greenwald has a great piece on Sen. Mel Martinez (new chairman of the RNC), vocal supporter of the Military Comissions Act, who praises himself for obtaining the release of Cuc Foshee, a U.S. citizen who was convicted of terrorism in Vietnam. He complained that she had been held for 14 months without trial, before she was finally tried and convicted.
Even after her conviction, she was sentenced to only 15 months in prison.
Greenwald compares that to the treatment of detainees under the U.S. Military Commissions Act supported by Martinez, which permits them to be detained indefinitely without trial and tortured along the way.
I guess what Greenwald just doesn't understand is that it's okay for Amurikans to do these sorts of things cause we're the good guys. It isn't okay for the geeks to do even less. They're the bad guys.
