Bloomberg for Prez?

It looks as though Bloomberg is seriously considering an independent run for the presidency:

A New York magazine cover story makes clear that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is seriously testing the waters for a presidential run in 2008 as an independent. However, he would delay until early 2008 any announcement.

Somehow, I doubt this is going to amount to much. The guy is popular in New York City, but he doesn't have much going for him (except his money) anywhere else. I doubt a liberal (relatively speaking for his party) New Yorker with a New York Jewish accent is going to go very far in the rest of America, even if he signs up Holy Joe as his running mate. Further, I can't see Holy Joe (Lieberman) taking back seat to Michael Bloomberg. Nor, do I see Bloomberg willing to go for broke for the second tier position.
