Killing the non-terrorists

Yesterday, I speculated that we might not be actually hitting any al-Qaeda targets while we are bombing Somalia. Today, my speculation is confirmed:

MOGADISHU, Somalia - A top U.S. official in the region said Thursday that none of the al-Qaida suspects believed to be hiding in Somalia died in a U.S. airstrike this week, but Somalis with close ties to the terrorist group were killed.

Yes, and if you believe this stuff about "Somalies with close ties," I've got a bridge over the East River to sell you. That's the same kind of crap that Joe McCarthy used to ruin the careers of hundreds of non-communist and non-anti-American "commies." "Close ties" my ass. They drank out of the same filthy well because it was the only well in town, perhaps.

Frankly, there is almost nothing our government ever says that you can believe these days.
