Benefits barred to same-sex couples in Michigan

This is disgusting. Michigan courts have now ruled that the "Marriage protection amendment" to the State constitution that passed in November bars any government employers from offering benefits to partners of same-sex couples, even though they can continue to offer benefits to unmarried partners of opposite-sex couples.
