Confused
Something has me confused (as usual). The House passed the supplemental budget request with deadlines for withdrawal imbedded in it. This will almost certainly fail in the Senate. And, even if it passes in the Senate, Bush says he'll veto it, which will stop it dead. But, correct me if I'm wrong. Doesn't that mean that Bush doesn't get his money to run the war? And, if so, isn't it the Republicans and/or Bush's fault that there's no money for the troops?
So, push comes to shove. Why don't we just keep repassing the same supplemental bill until Bush is forced to accept it in order to get the money? Am I missing something? Isn't this exactly the leverage we need? Or, are the Dems going to wimp out in the end and pass the supplemental without the deadline?
