Speaking of the DLC, as I was in the post below, here's what Ezra Klein has to say about their recent statement on Iran:

NATIONAL INTERESTS. In the DLC's latest New Dem Dispatch on Iran, they lay out some guiding principles for America's relationship with Iran. One of them calls for:

Effective diplomacy backed by the credible threat of force, which the United States must supply as a substitute for what will otherwise be a perpetually on-the-brink-of-war conflict between Israel and Iran, alongside the possibility of growing rivalry between Tehran and Sunni Arab states.

Correct me if I'm misreading things here, but is the DLC explicitly arguing that America should act as a substitute enforcer for Israel? In other words, because it's more dangerous for Israel to threaten force, the US should do it for them? Doesn't that seem, uh, odd?
