Taking a position in the '08 race

No, I'm not going to endorse one of the many Democrats running. What I am going to do is dis-endorse one of the Republicans.

The question I'm raising here is which of the four major Republican candidates it's most important to shoot down? My conclusion is that it's Rudy.

In this early running, it looks to me as though McCain has pretty much screwed himself and will not get the nomination. Even if he did, he's lost the "straight talk" image by pandering to everybody and everyone, so I think he'd be beatable.

Similarly, I think we could easily beat Mitt Romney, now that he's dissed his own home state, switched positions multiple times on many issues, and is a relative unknown.

Newt Gingrich might have a shot at the Republican nomination, since he's the only real conservative (apart from McCain) in the race, but he doesn't have a chance in hell of winning the general election.

That leaves Rudy. If Rudy gets through the hurdles to gain the Republican nomination, I fear he will be difficult to beat in the general election. So, if there's anyone we should start taking pot shots at in the early going, I think its Rudy.

(By the way, that pic up in the right hand corner is of Giuliani, dressed in drag as Marilyn Monroe)
