Just retribution?

Somehow or other I must have missed this little piece of news when it came out some years ago, but if you think the deliberate leaking of Valerie Plame's identity just to screw her husband for criticizing the White House was crappy, listen to this. The guy who was the Abu Ghraib whistle blower was promised anonymity by the military in exchange for handing over the photos of abuse at the former prison. Days later, Donald Rumsfeld (who could not have been ignorant of this fact) publicly thanked the man by name, an act which led to his wife's sister's house (where his wife was in hiding) being trashed. He, too, feared for his life, but his buddies supported his actions.

Now, why do you suppose Don Rumsfeld would do that?
