Keep an eye on the gas pump
Nine people were killed at the offices of Agip Oil in Nigeria today. With the world consuming oil at almost full pumping capacity, insurgents in Iraq shutting down that country's supplies, Iran threatening to shut down its supplies, and oil producing Venezuela leading an anti-American conference, this is not good news:
An armed gang dressed in military fatigues has attacked the offices of Agip oil company, a unit of Italy's ENI, in Nigeria, killing nine people, security and government sources said.
It was not immediately clear if the attack on Tuesday was by the same group that is holding four foreign hostages and has staged a series of attacks on oil facilities in the world's eighth-largest exporter over the past month.
"There was a massive attack on the Agip offices in Port Harcourt," a government source said, asking not to be named. Security sources said that eight of those killed were policemen and the other was a civilian.
