Misplaced priorities
Yesterday, I had a post noting that 3,200 people were still missing in the Katrina disaster.
It occurs to me that someone should point out that that figure alone is larger than all the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. If you add to it the nearly 1,000 who are already known to have died, Katrina turns out to have been far more deadly than 9/11. Yet, here we are handing over our freedom and our Constitution to a bunch of crooks because we're so frightened by 9/11.
People certainly seem to have their priorities misplaced. Frankly, I'm far more worried about the chance of having a collision in my car than I am about another terrorist attack. Sure, they're both inevitable if we wait long enough, but the car collision is far more likely to take me out.
