Karl Rove's Fairy Tale

Earlier today, I expressed some skepticism about the veracity of Bush's boast that in 2002 he had intercepted an al Qaeda plot to fly a plane into the US Bancorp building in LA. After reading this, I'm even more skeptical.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Thursday he was blindsided by President Bush's announcement of new details on a purported 2002 hijacking plot aimed at a downtown skyscraper, and described communication with the White House as "nonexistent."

"I'm amazed that the president would make this (announcement) on national TV and not inform us of these details through the appropriate channels," the mayor told The Associated Press. "I don't expect a call from the president - but somebody."

And, I have a pretty good idea why Karl Rove decided to use LA as the site for this fairy tale. It's the other side of the country from the World Trade Center. This way, obviously everyone from sea to shining sea is at risk.
