Hatred of liberals

Publius has an interesting piece here advancing the hypothesis that a principle reason why so many people bought into the war in Iraq is hatred of liberals. In the case of "conservative" Repbulicans, they saw the war as a weapon against the hated liberals. In the case of Democratic hawks, they saw the war as a way to distance themselves from the hated liberals. Publius arugues that even though the war is now discredited, the underlying cause of support for it remains alive.
