America damaged irreparably

CIA admits that there was a presidential order to operate secret prisons abroad:

In response to an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit, the CIA has finally acknowledged the existence of a presidential order authorizing the agency to detain and interrogate terror suspects overseas.

There's not much news here, since we already knew the CIA was doing this, but now even the wingnuts can't deny it. However, since the government repeatedly argued that any admission or denial of this program would do irreparable damage to the United States, I guess they have now done irreparable damage to the United States. Opps.

[Actually, it seems to me that the fact of operating these prisons is what caused the irreparable damage.]
