Democratic Majority in the Senate Probable

At the moment, it looks as though the Dems will not only control the House but will control the Senate as well by the time the new Congress is seated. Both Webb and Tester are leading, and while their leads are small, they seem to be large enough to withstand a re-count. Of course, we may not know for sure for more than a month, but it looks like a better than even bet.

This is truly huge!

For the Thuglicans to argue that this is just a normal event -- the six year itch syndrom -- is utterly absurd for all the reasons that many other than I have fully articulated. For them to argue that it really isn't a Republican defeat is also absurd. And, finally, for them to argue that this is the perfect background for a Republican victory in 2008 is equally absurd. Bush will still be around for two more years creating as much chaos as he possibly can. At best, the Dems may be able to throw up road blocks. At this point I doubt the public will ever believe him again.

Rove is dead (metaphorically speaking, that is).
