How does a government control people who think it's a puppet governemtn?

When will somebody at one of these hearings (like the one with General Abizaid yesterday) ask the $64,000 question about our continuing in Iraq? Can we expect a government created and protected by American soldiers to be accepted by enough Iraqis to support shutting down the insurgency and the sectarian violence? Won’t it always, inherently, be considered our puppet government, by Iraqis and Iraq’s neighbors alike, until we leave completely?

Or is it being asked and the press just isn’t bothering to report it?
