Israel criticized by UN

The UN is slamming Israel for its human rights violations, but the U.S. does nothing to stop them:

The UN high commissioner for human rights has slammed rights violations in the Palestinian territories as she visited the site of a deadly botched Israeli shelling in the Gaza Strip.

Louise Arbour told reporters during her brief visit to Gaza on Monday: "The violations of human rights in the Palestinian territories are intolerable."

Didn't they know? Israel can do no wrong.

I'm afraid we're getting to the point in this country where nobody cares about human rights violations or any other kind of inhuman behavior as long as they are conducted by us or our friends. It's a bit like the "he said, she said" coverage of politics. Many seem now to be saying, "Everbody does it and they always have, so why should we care? We might as well do it to protect ourselves."
