Shoot yourself in the foot

The Democrats decided to postpone any no-confidence in Gozales motion until after the Memorial Day break because they were afraid the big, bad Bush would accuse them of shirking their legislative duties. Of course, that just played into the Republicans' hands. Now, the Republicans have gotten themselves organized and are ready to block the no-confidence motion.

Why is it that the Dems always shoot themselves in the foot? It's no wonder most support gun control.
