Parenting 101

One of the first things they tell you in parenting class is to be consistent. If you set a deadline, enforce it. If you keep waffling when the established deadline is reached, the kid is going to learn that you are weak and will take advantage of it. So:

Leahy first gave the White House until July 18 to produce the documents, and then he agreed to give the administration until Aug. 1 to comply. The letter to Fielding sent Wednesday sets Aug. 20 at 2:30 p.m. as the "new return date" for the subpoenas.

What message does this communicate to the tykes in the White House?

And, when Aug. 20th comes and goes, what new date will be set?
