Bear sighting

Other than the fact that there have been helicopters buzzing the house since about 5:00 am, I was totally unaware of the excitment gripping the neighborhood. As I went for a walk this afternoon, my neighbor told me a bear has been wandering the neighborhood for the past couple of days. They finally shot it in Irvington, NJ, only about seven miles from the Hudson River and Manhattan. Here are the details for anyone interested.

Sad. Couldn't they have just darted him? Bears just wanna have fun, you know -- well, OK, except for that crazy one in Tennessee.

P.S. Guess I revealed myself to be one of those bleeding heart liberals. A man's man -- why does Dick Cheney come to mind? -- would say, "Right on, blow the m-f's away. U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A."

The late bear made the Chicago Tribune today.

In the Trib's defense, it was not on the front page. No comment from the bear or its relatives.
