It's Hoyer
So, Hoyer beats out Murtha 149-86 to take over as No. 2 in the House. I doubt this makes all that much difference, but I suspect it's better not to have someone tainted with corruption, as Murtha was, in this position. Hoyer may not have the credentials we would like on the war, but I think the Democrats' position on the war has momentum of its own at this point -- and it's just going to acceleerate if things continue as they have.
Further, the Dems really can't do much to directly influence the war policy if Bush choses to did his heals in and "stay the course." About all they can do is make him more and more unpopular.
