Reclaiming the Constitution
Blogger Tristero at Hullabaloo, in "Confronting the Rogue President", anticipates the upcoming struggle with l'ancien Regime over its untrammeled and heretofore unchallenged claims to executive power. (Can't quite say "The Regime" like we used to: what's the new term to be?)
He recalls the stand-off between two groups of Florida law enforcement officers back during the Terry Schiavo crisis, and warns that Jeb's less intelligent, but no less "impulsive" brother is not above staging a similar confrontation on the federal level, if and when the Congress says "no" to George the W.
I am not in a position to evaluate his tactical or strategic counsel-- read it for yourself-- but certainly the stand must be made. Taxes, environment, science, corruption, even Iraq: critical as these are, the health and nature of American democratic, Constitutional government is fundamental. (One more reason to pray that Webb and Tester take seats in the Senate as well.)
