Turkey in or Turkey out?

So what the heck is going on? Turkey claims it has invaded Iraq to beat up the Kurds. The Kurds and the US say it hasn't. I can see a motive for the US to stick its head in the sand and try to ignore it, but I can't see a motive for the Kurds to do so. But, what is the motive for Turkey to lie about it? Possible answer -- the domestic audience. Maybe the Government wants to look to its people like its doing something. That's all I can figure.
