Playing hardball

Well, this is really getting interesting. After the all night nilibuster last night, the Thuglicans managed to block the anti-war amendment to the Defense Authorization bill with a vote against cloture. That looked like the end of it, but now Harry Reid has pulled the Defense Authorization bill off the docket entirely. No up or down vote on the Dem's amendment, no defense funds.

I don't know how this will play to the public. Of course, the Republicans will accuse the Dems of destroying the country by failing to fund the troops and the war machine, and the press will probably pile on. But, maybe, just maybe, the public is wise to this by now. I'm not counting any chickens yet though.
