How about proposing a platform?
Thinking about the newly released videos of the Prez and his boys anticipating the hurricane that then took them by surprise ("nobody anticipated . . .") by doing what they all agreed it would do (see discussions in MediaMatters and Slate and an odd news report in MSNBC), I find myself wondering if we might want to start to formulate some sort of platform on Scatablog for the Opposition party for the fall elections and beyond? (Who knows when & if they will get to it?) I have not yet seen any other blogs working on this.

Katrina-- both the failure to respond to it adequately and the newly uncovered cover-up-- raises several issues for such a platform:
- Qualified appointees to FEMA & other government posts
- Adequate planning and funding for disaster relief
- Adequate planning and funding for rebuilding New Orleans and the Gulf Coast
- Serious research and investment into preventing global warming and/or addressing its effects
- Honest and open government, with genuine mechanisms to support it (this one goes on and on and on, of course, after this administration and Republican-led Congress and maybe even certain newly-minted Supreme Court Justices)
Other items to address: the war, NSA and other surveillance, meaningful health care & Medicare reform (a national health plan, please?), tax reform to reverse Republican class warfare, did I mention honest and open government?
Thoughts?
